Don't buy it, DIY it!

I fell in love with this feather Tippet from J.Crew....however, the price tag made me think otherwise.
So, naturally I thought, "I'll just make my own."

A few ostrich feathers later....voila! I even like that it is a little more wild than the J.Crew version.
Finished off with a vintage clip-earring for just the right touch!

  1. I look forward to seeing you wearing this at Kitchen Angels. Can I have dibs on it for a special occasion - fabulous with a sari, don't you think?

  2. Haha! I'm sure Teresa would love ostrich feathers floating around in the restricted meals!

I've got a teal ostrich feather tippet that would be a perfect match with a sari :D

  3. I too love the J Crew feather tippet but can't see even paying the sale price for it! Can you tell me how you made such a gorgeous DIY version? Thanks!

  4. Hi Nicole! It was so darn easy to make...there is no reason to even pay the sale price at J.Crew! I got a ostrich feather boa, (here is a link for a maribou one):

I folded it in thirds and loosely sewed it to a long, skinny panel of fabric with a few stitches and then fixed the ribbon to the ends. 30 minute project, tops :) Feel free to e-mail me with more questions, jessie@jessieabrams.com
