Romeo y Julieta

I'm a huge fan of containers... always have been. I can't really stand the smell of cigars, but the boxes they come in, that's a whole different story! When I stumbled upon these $5 finds, I was overjoyed! I happened to be out with some friends at an Albuquerque watering hole that is also a cigar bar and saw a stack of used, empty boxes. There were big ones, little ones, colorful ones, wooden ones, even some gilded with metallic accents. Always willing to inquire, I flagged down a hostess and got my hot little hands on a few.
Perfect for storing sewing notions, trinkets and precious love letters from the mister, these "Romeo y Julieta" cigar boxes are a delightful addition to my ever-growing collection of containers.

  2. i just remembered a project that my roomies and i tackled in college: cigar box purses. we had a craft-ernoon in the front yard complete with beads for straps and materials for lining the interiors, etc. throw in some cash, your id, cell phone, and some lip gloss and you're ready for a night out on the town!
finding a long one will be my mission for the jewelry-box project.
    good find!
